Take Two announce the development of Red Dead Redemption, heading to Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this autumn...
After years of speculation, rumour, and hearsay, Take Two Interactive has finally confirmed the development of a sequel to 2004's Wild West adventure, Red Dead Revolver.
Entitled 'Red Dead Redemption', the game is set at the turn of the 20th Century, and the push for an end to lawlessness on the western frontier of the US. According to Take Two, Redemption sees players take the role of James Marston, on a quest to bring the rule of law to the Wild West.
Currently in development at Rockstar San Diego, the studio behind the original Red Dead, Redemption is slated for an autumn 2009 launch on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
"The team at San Diego have massively exceeded our expectations with the sheer depth of experiences in Red Dead Redemption," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "The seamless combination of breathtaking beauty and intense action, all woven together with strong plotlines in a massive vibrant, rural environment is mind-blowing. We think this game helps to push the limits of what an open-world gaming experience can be."
Speculation that the Red Dead sequel would arrive in 2009 re-appeared last year, when Rockstar announced that a follow up to one of their major brands would be released...turns out it wasn't Table Tennis 2!
