Race Driver: Create & Race confirmed for release on the Nintendo handheld this summer...
Codemasters has today confirmed development of Race Driver: Create & Race on Nintendo DS, with a broad release pencilled in for this summer. Developed for the handheld by Glaswegian studio Firebrand Games, Create & Race will feature over twenty-five licensed vehicles such as the AMG Mercedes C Klasse DTM and the Chevrolet Silverado Truck, and around thirty-two tracks including Silverstone.
But aside from being the DS-based spin-off of TOCA Race Driver, Create & Race will also feature track construction capabilities, taking advantage of the DS touch-screen to enable gamers to create their own racing Mecca. Additionally, Game Sharing functionality will be added allowing players to race up to four opponents using a single cartridge, with online and Ad Hoc multiplayer modes thrown in for good measure.
Racing titles haven't been all too successful on Nintendo's dual-screened handheld to date, with abysmal examples like Ridge Racer DS and Asphalt Urban GT, so can this debut title from Firebrand signify a change of fortune?
