Codemasters Re-Launches Second MMO For Free News

Codemasters Online Gaming has today confirmed that RF Online will become the second title from their portfolio of imported MMOs to become free to download and subscription free.

Following the same strategy COG took with Archlord two months ago, RF Online is now fully free to download and play, with no subscription costs added. The client can be downloaded from the official RF Online website. Codemasters recently reported that by making it free to play, the number of gamers taking part in the guild-heavy Archlord had increased by 700%.

"RF Online is a great game with a strong community and by making the game free-to-play we're inviting absolutely everyone to come and enjoy this unique Sci-Fantasy online RPG," commented Kyle Rowley, Community Manager, Codemasters Online."

"Moving RF Online to free-to-play game marks yet another milestone for Codemasters Online and the wider industry. We have proven with ArchLord that has been downloaded over one million times the potential success that can be experienced and we are pleased to be in a position to re-launch RF Online using a similar model. Despite positive comments from COG about the move, the fact that two titles in their portfolio are now totally free to download and play can't be a good sign, especially since the publisher will have to continue paying for server costs in the coming months - not to mention that they'll also have to cope with an expected surge of gamers taking part in both Archlord and RF Online.
