The GTR team lift the lid of their official World Touring Car Championship title...

SimBin Development Team has today confirmed the title of their previously announced World Tour Car Championship as RACE. The game, which is being developed by the Swedish company for PC, will feature the official line-up for the 2006 Championship and is being produced in co-operation with Eurosport.

Making the announcement, Henrik Roos, CEO of SimBin commented, "The nature of WTCC, which is based on race tuned cars seen on the streets every day, and the tight sprint racing in a two-race format, guarantees the player more intensity and bumper to bumper action than found in any other racing game on the market"

"As RACE looks and feel we are both proud and also sure of the fact that this game will be a complete success which will strengthen WTCC as a brand and secure a broader base of fans for the cars and stars of our championship" said Jaques Behar, KSO Chairman and Eurosport Managing Director comments.

"All in all RACE has been a new challenge for SimBin to recreate due to its major differences in style from previous games in SimBin´s portfolio." Tomas Karlsson, COO at SimBin.

SimBin are coming to an on development of a sequel to GTR, as well as producing a version of the game for Xbox 360, with the latter to be published by THQ.

Making an announcement back in March 2006 that they'd secured the WTCC license with the FIA (the governing body), SimBin confirmed that the title would feature on next-gen platforms - though there has been no further clarification in today's statement.

TVG will have more on WTCC very shortly...

OMG Cant wait! GRID was absolute CRAP for racing only redeemed by its drift component. Finally a Rfactor style game coming to Consoles! To suceed the game will have to have regular cars and track updates. If nots its just going to be another 2 year old game port thats going to gather dust.
