Microsoft Drop Psychonauts News

As part of an on-going decision to streamline â??nicheâ?? titles from its catalogue and concentrate of proved big sellers, Microsoft today confirmed that it has dropped Psychonauts from its publishing roster.

The decision comes days after Lorne Lanning CEO Oddworld Inhabitants, confirmed that Microsoft Game Studios would not be publishing the next title in the Oddworld series and the surprising announcement that the entire XSN 2004 line-up would be cancelled, presumably to make way for a big splash on Xbox2.

According to inside sources, whilst Psychonauts impressed all who had seen it with its distinctive style, the game apparently wasnâ??t coming together in the final stages in the way that Microsoft had hoped.

Microsoft has confirmed that it intends to support Double Fineâ??s search for a new publisher and hopes to still see the title released on the Xbox at some stage.
