The upcoming sandbox title is set to be immortalised in a series of comic books under DC's WildStorm label...

Set to arrive on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in the Autumn, Vivendi Games' Prototype is to be turned into a comic series courtesy of 'Batman' and 'Superman' publisher, DC Comics.

The deal between DC and Vivendi will see the story of Prototype hit comic book stores from August, with both parties promising additional details in the near future. The Prototype comics are set to launch under DC Comics' WildStorm label.

"PROTOTYPE is all about shape-shifting action, and we're using that key element to redefine the open-world game space," said Al Simone, Sr. VP of Global Marketing, Sierra Entertainment. "Another key feature setting PROTOTYPE apart from other open-world games is its incredibly deep, conspiracy-based back-story, and by joining forces with the largest comic book publisher in the world - DC Comics - we can bring this new anti-hero and his tale to an even wider audience of comics fans and gamers alike."
