Lionhead’s Peter Molyneux lets Milo out of the bag with a new demonstration...

Despite being caught up in a PR mix-up last month, Milo & Kate made an expected appearance at this year’s TED Global conference in Oxford.

"I want to introduce a new revolution in storytelling," he told the audience and reported by the BBC.

"Films, TV, even hallowed books, are just rubbish because they don't involve me," he said. "It's a sea of blandness."

Expanding beyond last year’s E3 demonstration, the build at the TED Global conference saw the demonstrator egging Milo on to squash a snail.

Technology developed by Lionhead along with techniques “hidden in the dusty vaults of Microsoft” powers the AI driven character of Milo, which provides control over subtle facial elements such as blushing and the diameter of Milo's nostrils to portray an advanced relationship between Milo and the user.

As has been widely suspected since its unveiling last year, Molyneux confirmed that “most of it is just a trick - but it is a trick that actually works."

Employing advanced voice recognition technology, the build focused on the earlier stages of the “game”.  Molyneux suggested that after the first 45 minutes Milo completely recognises the user, but claimed that later stages would allow the user to explore the environment more freely with Milo.

"There are lots of adventures - some of which are quite dark," he claimed.

Clarifying the doubt expressed by Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg, Molyneux claimed that Microsoft currently doesn’t have any plans to release the game at this stage, although we suspect there’s a little too much effort purely for a conceptual project.

One curious claim stemmed from the suggestion that Milo’s AI is cloud based and as such "as millions of people use it, Milo will get smarter,” he told the audience.

Sony better beware of E3,MS are very crafty for announcing games at the last second, unlike Sony which announce their entire lineup years before release

Well that's the point - it's your typical Lionhead tease.
