Microsoft exec confirms that there's an internal studio working on the next instalment of Project Gotham Racing...

By way of a Tesla Motors customer blog, the Corporate VP and Deputy General Counsel of Microsoft's Litigation Group, Tom Burt appears to have confirmed that there's an internal Microsoft studio working on the next instalment of the Project Gotham Racing series.

Burt, who owns one of Tesla's Roadsters, let employees of Microsoft Game Studios mic up his car while he drove it around a test track. As the sports car is powered electrically, this allowed sound engineers to get clearer "skid and squeal noises" than would otherwise be possible with the interference of a combustion engine.

These sound engineers were taken from two developmental teams within Microsoft, "some working on Forza, some on Project Gotham Racing," Burt explained. Since he's only owned the Roadster since March of this year and PGR4 came out in 2007 (from the now Activision-owned studio, Bizarre Creations), this appears to confirm that Microsoft has created a new first-party studio to develop the PGR property.

PGR5 might not be up on your tail quite yet, racing fans, but you can expect to see it fill up your mirrors more and more in future. We're going to predict a range of PGR5 rumours before Microsoft confirms this one. Fingers crossed for a 2010 release though...

Thanks, Kokugamer.

PGR4 is easy, the bikes are good, but they reach there top speed too easy and the sound is annoying, the fact that you can't buy cars and use that specific car in any championship sucks, that's what made me go back to PGR3, and the sunny weather setting is more of a storm setting in PGR4. to be honest the bikes are better than the cars this time round, the cars seem a little weighted. and thave replace some of the good cars from PGR3 with crap ones. and the fact that they haven't sorted the aston martin dbr9 race car engine and exhaust noise pisses me off, it sounds nothing like the car in real life, the game version sounds like a crappy motorbike.
