Bizarre Unveils PGR4 Update News

Four new tournaments and glitch fixes in the first PGR4 update, although Cat & Mouse will have to wait...

Project Gotham Racing 4

Exactly how long Bizarre Creations will continue support for the outstanding PGR4 remains to be seen, what with Activision's recent purchase, so news of the first update available from November 15th comes as a slight relief for fans of the series.

Promising a host of improvements and glitch fixes, the big addition is four new types of races: Daily Tournaments, Super Saturday, Simulation Sundays, and the Global Cup.

To qualify for these PGR fans will need to access the Tournament Leaderboards to check how much time is left, before racing on a Solo Hot Lap to set the best time possible. Those who beat the qualifying time will have a spot reserved for them.

Details on the differences between each of the four race modes are:

Daily Tournaments Available Monday through Friday - Each Daily Tournament begins and ends in a single day. - A total of 640 players (five groups of 128) can qualify for each Daily Tournament. - Only the Top Two finishers advance in each elimination round.

Racing in Super Saturdays - Available on Saturdays only - Each Super Saturday Tournament begins and ends on a single Saturday. - A total of 2,560 players (five groups of 512) can qualify for each Super Saturday Tournament. - Only the Top Two finishers advance in each elimination round.

Simulation Sundays - Available on Sundays only - Each Simulation Sunday Tournament begins and ends on a single Sunday. - Players are required to use In-Car-View/Manual Gear only. - A total of 64 players can qualify for each Simulation Sunday Tournament. - Only the Top Four finishers advance in each elimination round.

Global Cup - Available twice a month - Each Global Cup Tournament takes two weeks to complete. - A total of 512 players can qualify for each Global Cup Tournament: - The Top 20 finishers for each Nation - The Top 32 finishers from the "Rest of World" - Elimination rounds take place on the second Saturday of the tournament

Unfortunately it seems as though the new Cat & Mouse mode has missed out on this update, although Bizarre Creations assures us this will follow in a separate update in a few weeks time.

PGR4 is easy, the bikes are good, but they reach there top speed too easy and the sound is annoying, the fact that you can't buy cars and use that specific car in any championship sucks, that's what made me go back to PGR3, and the sunny weather setting is more of a storm setting in PGR4. to be honest the bikes are better than the cars this time round, the cars seem a little weighted. and thave replace some of the good cars from PGR3 with crap ones. and the fact that they haven't sorted the aston martin dbr9 race car engine and exhaust noise pisses me off, it sounds nothing like the car in real life, the game version sounds like a crappy motorbike.

Roll on Friday, can't wait to get my Manc-mitts on it. Just hope that Royal Mail have some sort of scheme to get PGR4 to us gamers on time. There's always hope!
