It was only a matter of time, but the publisher finally confirms the sixth iteration of the football series...

Konami has today confirmed development on Pro Evolution Soccer 6 for a band of formats including for the first time Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. Continuing the evolution of the series, Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka and his team have been working on the refinement of the game's shooting system, which includes redesigns for both volleys and half-volleys, and improving the AI of the players.

PES6 will also feature a number of new international licenses with the likes of Holland, Argentina, and Italy all signing up to the game, though Konami will confirm a more complete list at a later date.

Finally PES6 will see the return of the Master League, which will include new features including pressures from the club board, and the realities of an aging squad.

At the moment there's been no confirmation on whether PES will be making its debut on PlayStation3 in this sixth instalment from Konami. Pro Evolution Soccer 6 is currently being developed for Xbox 360, PlayStation2, PC, PSP, and Nintendo DS; we'll have more news shortly...
