The patch for next-gen consoles will address the well publicised online lag and slowdown issues...

Konami has released a free update for Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The patch, which is downloadable from Xbox Live and PSN, is set to fix well publicised online lag problems as well as slowdown issues that have been occurring both on and offline.

The update is also addressing the persistent crashing problems that PlayStation 3 users have been experiencing when they download the game to their hard drive.

This follows Monday's news that PES head-honcho and footie game legend, Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka, expressed his regrets about this year's game, how his team were eager to delay its release and why it was nowhere near the standard they wanted it to be.

PES 2008 received much criticism for these problems when it was released last month. However, Konami swiftly responded that it was working to combat the problems and, with this new patch, it would appear that they're good to their word.
