Jerry Bruckheimer Films in negotiations to bring the Prince on to the silver screen…

It certainly appears to be the day for videogame to movie adaptations; having recently discovered that the rights to ‘Soul Calibur’ have been snapped up, Variety is today claiming that Jerry Bruckheimer Films is negotiating a seven-figure deal to acquire the rights for Ubisoft’s ‘Prince of Persia: Sands of Time’.

Specific details are hard to come by, however it’s believed that the agreement includes a script being penned by the games creator Jordan Mechner.

Whilst videogame fanatics will likely scoff at the thought of yet another disastrous movie adaptation, it should be noted that both ‘Soul Calibur’ and ‘Prince of Persia’ have been acquired by more reputable movie companies then the typical indie firms associated with the likes of ‘The House of the Dead’; particularly with Bruckheimer behind the wheel, we can expect an action extravaganza to rival the Hollywood blockbusters.
