Ubisoft send word of the Prince's return...

Ubisoft today revealed the first specific information from the hotly anticipated Prince of Persia 2, currently in development at Ubisoft Montreal.

"Prince of Persia The Sands of TimeTM was the most critically acclaimed game of 2003," said Yves Guillemot, President and CEO of Ubisoft, "With Prince of Persia® 2, we intend to build on that masterpiece that will take Prince of Persia® one step further to take over the action-combat genre. We will offer you an even higher level of excellence that should once more convince the critics and the public."

This time around the enigmatic Prince has to embark on a path of both carnage and mystery to defy his preordained death. His journey leads to the infernal core of a cursed island stronghold, harbouring mankind’s greatest fear.

Prince of Persia 2 features an entirely new free-form combat system, which Ubisoft claims to allow the Prince to fight without restrictions. Gamers can expect to get their hands on an arsenal of weapons, which when used in correct combinations, creates advanced arm attacks that verge on “fatal artistry”!

It’s certainly going to be hard to top last year’s surprise hit, however it certainly sounds as though the Montreal team are heading in the correct direction; we’ll have more information and a closer look soon.
