Cross-platform matchmaking, achievements and more...

Valve has announced full details of the Steam integration for PS3 versions of Portal 2.

First, you’ll need to link you PSN account to a Steam account (this can be done completely in-game), then you’ll gain access to cross-platform matchmaking, gameplay, friends, chat, and achievements via Steam on PS3. The game will save co-op game progress and single player saved games to the Steam Cloud, enabling you to pick up where you left off on any PlayStation 3.

The Steam PS3 interface will allow you to access both PSN and Steam friends for text chats, player profiles, friend requests, and game invites. Steam Achievements are earned concurrently with PSN Trophies.

As previously announced, linked players of the PS3 version of Portal 2 will have access to PC and Mac versions of the game as well.

Portal 2 is released next thursday. Check out our Co-op preview here.

It is just as fantastic as the 10/10 suggests, worth the wait! Quite a lot has gone into the storyline too, and it entire game including puzzles/levels are a fair bit bigger but it doesn't loose anything from it.

It's looking absolutely amazing at this stage.  The only concern I have is the expansion and the demands this places on the design team.

The original Portal was condensed, small rooms where the puzzles were tightly woven.  Portal 2 appears to be on a much larger, grander level and I just hope the puzzles and their solutions don't loose the focus.

Don't want to be walking around aimlessly too much - even if Steven Merchant is providing the comedy in the background.
