Pokemon Franchise Set To Top 150 Million Units News

Nintendo`s obsessive series set to break through landmark barrier with the latest Pokemon title on GameCube...

With a little under five weeks to go until Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness is released on GameCube, Nintendo has taken the opportunity to shout about some stats for the whole franchise. Since the introduction of the series to North American back in 1998, the franchise has sold around 150 million units with global retail sales topping $15 billion â?“ something that Nintendo will hope to grow further with XD.

Featuring over 40 hours of gameplay, Gale of Darkness follows players attempts to capture and pure the shadow Pokemon Lugia. Aside from the Story Mode, gamers will also be able to engage in Versus battles modes and allows gamers to import their favourite Pokemon from the GBA titles Pokémon Ruby, Pokémon Sapphire, Pokémon FireRed, Pokémon LeafGreen and Pokémon Emerald and fight with them in full 3D.
