Gem and Arc officially dropped as Sony renames its motion controller to PlayStation Move and adds a sub-controller...
After months of alleged names, Sony today confirmed an Autumn worldwide release for what it has officially named as the PlayStation Move motion controller.
The device will be joined with the PlayStation Move sub-controller, which works in conjunction with the PlayStation Move and PS Eye to provide intuitive navigation of in-game characters and objects.
The motion controller promises "unmatched accuracy" through advanced motion sensors, including a three-axis gyroscope, a three-axis accelerometer, and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor(!) - along with the colour-changing sphere that is tracked by the PS Eye. The combination caters to both fast and subtle motion, providing a host of input mechanisms, an analogue trigger, along with physical feedback from the rumble functionality. The PS eye can also capture the player's voice and image, enabling augmented-reality experiences.
The sub-controller, announced at GDC, is a one handed controller that provides additional options via an analogue stick and directional buttons. The sub controller features a built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery and works wirelessly. Sony confirmed that a SixAxis or DualShock can also be used in place of the sub-controller.
Sony confirmed that 36 publishers and developers have signed on to support the device, a full list cab be found below. During the fiscal year 2010 (ended March 31st 2011), Sony has pledged that more than 20 dedicated titles will be released.

lol post 869 you wouldnt happen to be one of the many thousand butt hurt 360 fanboys would ya lol, youve lost and like it was said at the start of the year "this year is going to be the year where the ps3 shows the 360 whos boss"

lol so lets get this right VGchartz says the ps3 has only just reached the 37 million mark yet this site says its 38 million (if i was a 360 fanboy even 37 million is wrong lol) so that actually means the new 360 "s" hasnt sold as well as people are saying as VGchartz says its sold 42 million (4 million more than ps3) lol just 4 million ?? hang on just after xmass 2009 wasnt the 360 ahead by 5 million units, now its only 4 million.
Â
well thats a huge dent in the 360 fanboys argument isnt it "the 360 s is constantly beating the ps3 in sales" yeah sure it might be beating it ever so insignificantly but you 360 fanboys forget just how unreliable the old 360 is (just how many have been smashed up, how many have gone to the 360 scrap yard, how many are collecting huge amounts of dust in store windows begging for somone to buy them cause no one wants that old pile of crap) and now the ps3 is not only getting a 320gb sku but also come's bundled with move and still only costs £285 lol i dont see how anyone and i mean quite literally anyone can say a 360 s with kinect is cheaper than a ps3 (sony has quite simply wiped all them smart ars**d grins form all the 360 fanboys faces).
Â
kinect cost's £130 and a 360 "s" 250gb cost's £200 total price to pay £330 or a 360 "s" arcade 4gb bundled with kinect cost's £250 lol you still have to purchase M$'s over priced 250 gb HDD which will no doubt cost £80 so youll still be paying £330 lol where as a 320gb ps3 will cost just £285, £45 cheaper than the 360 lol 360 fanboys youve just been owned by sony muhahaha.
