Rumour and speculation indicates that Sony's fabled 250GB PS3 Slim could cost as little as £299.99...
More rumours about rumours have surfaced regarding Sony's alleged 250GB PS3 Slim, which will apparently be available at retail as early as this October in the UK for as little as £299.99 with a bundled game.
A UK retail source has indicated to Eurogamer that three bundles will be rolled out by Sony for the supposed 250GB PS3 Slim, with each bundle incorporating one game from the likes of Uncharted 2, Assassin's Creed II, and Gran Turismo 5.
The first of these bundles is apparently due to arrive in October, which will presumably include Uncharted 2 as it's the only game of the three that'll be on the market by then (Assassin's Creed II is scheduled for November and Sony still hasn't locked down GT5's release date).
If this news is accurate, then it may not be music to the ears of gamers who've recently forked out £249.99 for a 120GB PS3 Slim, although it's not unlike Sony to launch a PS3 model with a much larger HDD but only a slightly higher RRP soon after introducing a SKU with lower specifications.
Last October, Sony launched the 160GB PS3 for £339.99 (449 euros), which was a mere £40 (50 euros) more expensive than the 80GB model that had been on the market since August of that year.
The 160GB model also came with a raft of PlayStation Network content, although game bundles for the 80GB SKU didn't arrive in PAL territories until the end of 2008 (e.g. the LittleBigPlanet bundle that was released shortly after the game's launch last November).
If this pattern is anything to go by, then the alleged 250GB PS3 Slim bundles certainly make a lot of sense. Perhaps those of you who were considering a PS3 Slim purchase should keep your wallets in your pockets for the time being. More as we get it...

but people have come to accept the rrod its been happening for years now unlike the yellow light of death thats not because of unreliable parts but due to a firmware update, is this an indication that sony had tried to overclock the ps3 and may have had a stable overclock but releasing a firmware update with the overclock included may have caused the trapped gas in the circuit boards.

Actually we can still complain about the RROD because the xbox has a 54 percent failure rate compared to the PS3's 14.7
OFF Topic: MAG will be pwnage

good point, but who's to say the complaints wont keep coming in? could easily be a majour fault in the system.
but i aint gettin called a fanboy again so ill stick with ur comment =) lets just hope sony can address the problem like microsoft did with the enw motherboards they were using

It's really a low failure rate when compared to Xbox's 45% failure rate in the earlier generations of systems.
A .5% deficiant rate is quite low and seems an acceptable rate for any product. It seems that if Sony can compensate these very few failures with replacement systems ect. then this would be a very small problem.
