Sony manufacturers new model featuring DVD-R & DVD-RW support...
SCEi today confirmed that a new Playstation2 is currently in production and will be released in Japan on May 15th. The main benefits of the new model (PS2 SCPH-50000) are the ability to read DVD-R and DVD-RW discs, along with progressive scan support for DVD playback.<br><br>Sony claim that the new model runs 30% quieter compared to other models and a slight weight reduction.<br><br>Joining the new model is a new DVD styled remote control, which allows you to power the unit and open the disc tray!!!<br><br>No word on whether the new model will be released in Europe but we’ll do our best to find out…

This is their peak because of MGS4, Halo 3 did the same thing but in much larger numbers. 360 has a sick holiday lineup and they will cut the price by a hundred bucks. Then theres the new Xbox Live with Netflix and possibly a FREE Xbox Live by then. Resistance isn't enough to stop it.
