Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has finally got round to announcing plans to release the Playsytation2 Hard-Drive in America.

The 40GB HDD will be available in March 2004 for $99.99 and will come pre-loaded with Square-Enix MMORPG ‘Final Fantasy XI’. To play the title after the games initial free 30-day period, players will need to pay a fee of $12.95 per month.

The HDD also allows gamers to store MP3’s ripped from a CD and view digital photos with an in-built photo manager.

Currently Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) have made no announcement regarding the release of the HDD in Europe or the state of ‘Final Fantasy XI’; to be honest we’d be very surprised to see either of them getting a release, however we’ll keep you posted with more information if any comes to light.

This is their peak because of MGS4, Halo 3 did the same thing but in much larger numbers. 360 has a sick holiday lineup and they will cut the price by a hundred bucks. Then theres the new Xbox Live with Netflix and possibly a FREE Xbox Live by then. Resistance isn't enough to stop it.
