SCEE confirms that the redesigned PlayStation 2 will arrive in the New Year; Japan launch end of the month...

Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has today announced that the redesigned PlayStation 2 will be heading to European retailers in the New Year.

Confirmation that Sony was planning to release a redesigned PlayStation 2 emerged in UK-based industry publication MCV last week, along with speculation that the launch would coincide with a price drop for the 120 million strong 'past-gen' console.

According to the latest report from MCV, the new model with look the same as the current slim PS2, but with an integrated power unit. As reported in US-based Next-Gen, SCEJ are set to launch the model in Japan by the end of November.

Then theres the new Xbox Live with Netflix and possibly a FREE Xbox Live by then. Resistance isn't enough to stop it.
