THQ and Kuji Entertainment team up to bring nerdy tabletop game to the masses.

THQ and Kuju Entertainment recently announced an agreement to develop the first ever, fully licensed Warhammer 40,000 game for the Playstation2. Kuju Entertainment, previously responsible for the excellent Lotus Challenge and the upcoming Reign of Fire, beat stiff competition to secure the license, over 30 other developers were vying for the agreement.

THQ’s exclusive licence with Games Workshop, owner of Warhammer 40,000, guarantees Kuju’s talented development team access to all the characters, races that make up the popular tabletop science fiction wargame. In addition the creators and designers from Games Workshop are giving invaluable input to the game. This unprecedented level of access and cooperation, together with Kuju’s own exciting ideas and ambitions for the PS2 game will provide a winning combination for a smash-hit game.

Ian Baverstock, Business Development Director of Kuju Entertainment enthused, “We’re honoured that THQ has chosen us from so many potential developers to work on what is obviously an incredibly high profile game. The whole company’s thrilled to be working with the Warhammer 40,000 licence – it’s an exciting opportunity for us to show exactly what we’re capable of.”

Grant Dean, Director of European Product Development at THQ, added, “When we announced late last year that we were searching for a developer for the Warhammer 40,000 project we had no idea we’d get the response that we did. With the sheer amount of development talent out there, we found Kuju Entertainment stood head and shoulders above the rest. The company’s appreciation of the Warhammer 40,000 world, and vision and understanding of how to maximise its potential on the PlayStation 2 made it an easy choice for this exciting project. We’re very much looking forward to working with Kuju on realising its vision and creating a game that challenges experienced Warhammer 40,000 fans while being open enough for newcomers.”

“We are very happy with the appointment of Kuju as the developer of the first game to come out of our long term strategic partnership with THQ on our Warhammer 40,000 property,” said Jon Gillard, Head of Business Development for Games Workshop. “We were very impressed with the originality, quality and raw ability behind their design vision, and feel sure that they have the enthusiasm and passion for our worlds that will deliver the fantastic experience we know this game will be.”
it's time when people stop buying it imo.

they'd be stupid to automatically presume if they stopped selling ps2s they'd get more people buying ps3s.

nobody who wants a ps3 will go into a shop and buy a ps2 instead just cuz it's cheaper or something.

Time to pull the plug and focus on the PS3 more. More people would buy PS3s if a PS2 was not available.

It is time, Sony.

ps3' world wide sales arnt 38 million its more close to 33 million the 360 is at 37 million not 39 but who gives a crap the 360 has reached its peak this time next year microsoft will pull the plug on the 360 when they release details of there next console only no one will buy it apart from fanboys and mirosoft's failed IT students

and in the comment below yours i dont see any thing about the 360 over taking the ps3 or how long it will last besides thats its nearly 2 years ago since that was posted, you seriously need to loose that fanboy image as its all over you. no one who actually plays games gives a crap weather it sells more than 360, sonys not going to pull the plug on ps3 so why you so obsesed about sales or adding stupid comments like inferiour pc conversions as there on ps3 aswell (is far cry in inferiour pc game or crysis ect) no thought not.

go back to gaming and let sony worry about console sales well actually its shareholders unless your gonna be a crybaby and post a stupid reply that only a fanboy would care about.

lol anon. ps3 worldwide sales = 38million. 360 worldwide sales = 39 million. the 360 is a year older. and after 2 years of paying for live is more expensive than ps3. the ps3 2010 exclusive list is absolutely killer and blu-rays have really taken off! you're in a dreamworld if you think the 360 will last over the next 2 years, let alone trounce the ps3 like you're suggesting! but enjoy your smaller more inferior pc ports this year, wont you?! xx

This is their peak because of MGS4, Halo 3 did the same thing but in much larger numbers. 360 has a sick holiday lineup and they will cut the price by a hundred bucks. Then theres the new Xbox Live with Netflix and possibly a FREE Xbox Live by then. Resistance isn't enough to stop it.
