By Derek dela Fuente on 17/10/2003Well sort of if Japanese rumours are anything to go by...
We’ve today heard whispers emerging from Japan regarding a possible new hardware peripheral in development at Nintendo for the GameCube.

Unfortunately the details aren’t very precise so we wouldn’t advise putting down your pre-order just yet. The rumours stem from the respected Game Laboratory magazine, which claims that Nintendo are on the verge of announcing a new unit for the GameCube capable of storing up to 40GB of data – essentially becoming the HDD unit that has had such effect on the Xbox. Instead of being one disc it’s believed that you can use multiple discs in a manner similar to ZIP drives.

We’re not 100% convinced by this just of yet, however we’ll keep our ears to the ground and bring you more if anything surfaces.
