TVG gets to the bottom of rumours that a third Perfect Dark game from Rare is in the offing...

It seems that the Perfect Dark series still has the ability to turn the wheels of the rumour mill as unconfirmed reports of a third PD game have been circulating the general gaming press over the last 24 hours.

The rumours, which have been emanating from Indian site GameGuru, suggest that Rare are currently working on their third PD game that will be a sequel to the original PD game on the N64 (rather than the PDZ prequel story arc). Further details include multiple storylines for the game that depend upon the choices of the gamer.

Responding to these rumours, a spokesperson for Rare told TVG: "Speculation like this is nice and it's good to know that the PD IP is still headline grabbing." However, Rare ascertained that the rumours may be unfounded by stating that they "Haven't been in contact with GameGuru."

Rare continued by telling us their official line that "Rare does not comment on speculation, but it's nice to know that you care."

So, there you have it. There's still a chance that a third PD game may be developed by Rare, but the current rumours may be as useful as no news whatsoever.
