Nintendo confirms that ‘new product’ will playback existing titles…

Comments recently made in Famitsu by a Nintendo representative once again confirmed that the new machine set to be unveiled at E3’04 will not be a replacement for either the GameCube or GameBoy Advance; however cryptically hinted that the machine can play back existing game titles.

This has led some to suggest it will the iQue Player – a format that runs SNES and Nintendo64 titles through a flash memory card and was developed specifically for China to combat its problems with piracy.

However we’ve got our doubts, Nintendo has confirmed in the past that this was designed purely to capture the increasingly important Chinese market; indeed such a move would likely be considered in the same depth as the ill-fated Pac-Man announcement last year.

Instead our belief remains strong that Nintendo will introduce some sort of portable GameCube that can play GameBoy Advance and existing GameBoy titles; it certainly seems to make the most sense, as we outlined in an earlier article.

Either way we’re sure interest in Nintendo’s new product will begin to pick up soon, with suggestions that it will be displayed to select individuals as early as next week; we’ll have more information soon.

Curious, is that a typo?

"As a publisher, no one is more excited to see the continued growth and evolution of Games for Windows - LIVE than Microsoft Game Studios,"

Should surley read as.

Actually Commodore is indeed a group of people with the name, but unlike previous restarts, this small group actually does pay tribute to the old c64 heritage they hold C64 parties and contests (demo's) and do work with the old enthausiasts. from what I've seen its a small group who really are going for it and i wish them luck

The Spec on the system will make any game run at full setting with ease but the price tag has got to be in the $4000 range,

Hey anonymous that supposedly attended a trade show in the 80's: You haven't learned how to type, spell, or use better grammar in 20 years? And we're supposed to get something out of that garbage post? Plus, you DO realize that Commodore is, and has been for a long time now, a name. And that's all. The name has been passed around a little bit, but none of the same people run anything Commodore related. Any new Commodore we see will be in name only. Like Atari.
