Sumo Digital developing the classic SEGA franchise for PlayStation2, PC and PSP...

Yesterday we reported on the appearance of pages on the PlayStation website that seemed to announce the development of Outrun 2: Coast 2 Coast for PlayStation2 and PSP. Today SEGA has confirmed that the title is indeed begin developed for both Sony platforms along with a version for PC.

As well as containing a dozen Ferraris over thirty tracks from both the original Outrun 2 and Outrun 2 SP arcade machine, Outrun 2006: Coast to Coast on PlayStation2 and PSP will have cross-platform functionality, which unlocks format specific content. The game is currently being developed by Sumo Digital who created Outrun 2 for Xbox in 2004, and have also been behind several ports for PSP in recent months.

"Amazing Ferraris, incredible courses, beautiful girls - and all available on Sony's PSP and PlayStation 2," commented Matt Woodley, Creative Director of SEGA. "The only thing you'll be asking for is another go!"

Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast is set to arrive on PlayStation2, PSP, and PC in March 2006; we'll have more shortly...
