Phew, we nearly thought this one had been scrapped as we reveal new screens and info on the definitive war simulator...
It’s been a long time since we last heard anything on the Xbox port of the excellent Operation Flashpoint; thankfully Codemasters today ended the silence with new screens and information.<br><br>Those who haven’t heard of Operation Flashpoint have simply missed out on the finest war-simulator ever created; the PC version garnished rave reviews across the board with its stunning blend of action and depth on a level of immersion that very few games manage. Set during a fictional Cold War conflict in 1985, players find themselves in a situation where every action has a consequence. Players can take control of a huge number of vehicles, from Apache helicopters to the run-down tractor in a nearby village; literally every move is at your dispersal to combat the growing communist threat.<br><br>The Xbox version will not only contain the groundbreaking original, but also the ‘Resistance’ campaign set before events in the main game.<br><br>Bohemia Interactive are currently hard at work enhancing the already impressive graphics engine; so we can expect this game to look even better then witnessed in these screens thanks to the use of Xbox specific features.<br><br>It’s long been rumoured that the game will make use of Xbox Live! – a feature that we’d love to see – at present Codemasters have yet to make an official announcement on the situation; we’ll let you in as soon as an official announcement has been made.<br><br>If Bohemia Interactive can accurately adapt the keyboard heavy control system to an Xbox joypad; Operation Flashpoint could very well be the game to fill in the disappointment of not having Halo 2 this year.<br><br>Operation Flashpoint is scheduled for release in the autumn; you can bet we’ll have a lot more on this title soon…
