Operation Flashpoint Elite – New Footage News

By Chris Leyton on 29/09/2005

The finest military sim known to gamers makes its Xbox appearance this November and we’ve got new screens/trailer to celebrate...

A number of years back Codemasters released a title from an unheard team known as Bohemia Interactive Studios (BiS); that game was Operation Flashpoint which went on to define what we come to expect from military simulators, providing unbelievable scope and levels of authenticity.

An Xbox adaptation was confirmed shortly after the release of the PC version… but then everything went quiet. Thankfully Codemasters and BiS appear to have settled their differences and Operation Flashpoint: Elite is well on the way for a November 2005 release.

The technology behind Operation Flashpoint has been widely recognised for its accurate simulation of modern warfare, and has been adapted for the United States Marine Corps, United States National Guard, Australian Defence Forces and others to use as a training simulation VBS1.

Member of the development team at BiS can actually count on firsthand experience, with a number of their members serving in the army and using this to create the game’s military operations.

TVG took a look at Operation Flashpoint: Elite at E3 along with its eagerly awaited PC sequel currently known as Military Sim; we’ll have more information on both titles but for now make sure to check out the latest trailer and screenshots.
