Former Capcom members establish a new independent development studio...

Finally making it to European shores, the release of Capcom's seminal action/adventure, Okami, proved to be a bittersweet experience; a PS2 title of the highest quality, but one from a development studio that Capcom decided no longer fits the bill.

Fans of Clover Studios work, however, can take some solace in the newly established SEEDS Inc., a Japanese development studio comprising many former members of the team behind the likes of Viewtiful Joe, Okami and numerous other Capcom titles from the past.

Headed by Atsushi Inaba (Viewtiful Joe, Okami), other notable members of the team include Hideki Kamiya (Devil May Cry, Viewtiful Joe, Okami); Masami Ueda (Resident Evil 1-3, Viewtiful Joe, Okami); Mari Shimazaki (Okami); Yuta Kimura (Shadow of the Colossus, Okami) and Nao Ueda (Resident Evil 3-4, Dino Crisis 2, Okami). Since falling from popularity in the eyes of Capcom's board and shareholders, Shinji Mikami, creator of the Resident Evil series, will also reportedly join the team, potentially adding a major name to a studio already brimming with talent.

Amidst recent suggestions that Capcom is having second thoughts about porting Okami to Wii, the news of SEEDS Inc. formation, should at least suggest that many of the creative genius behind the title will continue to provide such memorable experiences in the future - just don't expect anything from them too soon.
