French publisher teaming up with MC2 to release teen-horror inspired title on the Playstation2, Xbox and PC…

Ubisoft today announced an agreement with MC2 to publish and distribute Obscure, a forthcoming survival/horror title for the Playstation2, Xbox and PC.

Inspired by the teen-horror genre, Obscure follows a group of five American students as they attempt to unravel the mysterious happenings and disappearances that keep occurring at their school. Through the long eerie corridors and dark hallways of Leafmore, Shannon, Kenny, Ashley, Stan and Josh will come to learn that the night will be long and survival not easyâ?¦

Obscure features a multiplayer option along similar lines to Microsoftâ??s Brute Force, allowing a second player to join or leave the game at any time; whilst emphasis is placed on switching between the characters at any time, leaving the innovative A.I to customise the way you play without a second player.

Weâ??re informed that teamwork is crucial to progress through the game, with interaction between the different characters during fights, inventory management and riddle solving.

"Obscure is the first game to exploit the success of recent teen survival horror films" said Rob Cooper, UK managing director at Ubisoft. "This will provide the perfect opportunity for fans of these TV shows and movies to become a part of one themselves."

Obscure is scheduled for release in September 2004; weâ??ll have a closer look soon.
