Co-op slasher, survival/horror sequel on its way to the PlayStation2, PC and Wii later in the year...
Merging the survival/horror genre with the teen-slasher influences of the movies, Ubisoft and HydraVision's 2004 title Obscure proved to be surprisingly enjoyable and innovative. Slightly less surprising was the game's failure to make a mark in the charts. Undeterred however, the game's developer is back with a sequel courtesy of PlayLogic International.
Taking place two years after the events of the original, Obscure II follows a similar model to the likes of Wes Craven's Scream, following the survivors move to college and an attempt to return to normality... things however are never so simple. After the discovery of a beautiful but strange plant at the campus, events take a turn for the worse and soon the students are having to battle for survival once again. Retaining the co-op mode that featured in the original, Obscure II features six playable characters, each with their own unique abilities that can be switched between at various points throughout the game.
Dominique Morel, CTO of Playlogic International N.V: "Obscure II displays refined talent in every aspect, from high attention to visual details and optimized control schemes; and a dense and intense in-game atmosphere. It' is a thrilling and unique game with polished game features; an incredible experience."
Denis Potentier, CEO of Hydravision: "We are happy to work together with Playlogic on Obscure II; they meet all of our expectations and I'm sure that their expertise will be very positive for the game. The two-person cooperative ameplay of Obscure II has been fully optimized. I think players will love this game."
