The latest game from the creator of Katamari Damacy is heading to PS3 via download from PSN...
Noby Noby Boy, the latest creation from celebrated developer Keita Takahashi, will be available for the PlayStation 3 via download from PSN on February 19th for 3.99 Euros (£3.77) under the auspices of Namco Bandai Games Europe.
Demonstrating the same style of innovative game design that Takahashi utilised with Katamari Damacy, Noby Noby Boy boasts elements of Stretch Armstrong style fun alongside the usual Katamari format, while adding in a touch of the classic mobile phone game Snake.
Players take control of 'Boy', who can be stretched to ridiculous lengths as he eats various parts of his surroundings (e.g. animals, trees, and buildings). Each end of 'Boy' is controlled with the PS3's dual thumbsticks, allowing the user to tie him in knots and thread him through holes as he grows.
The online elements of the game also seem to offer an interesting twist, exhibiting a parallel character to 'Boy' called 'Girl' who will grow at a rate that's dependent on the progress of all Noby Noby Boy players worldwide.
As 'Boy' increases in size through individual players' games, this growth is tabulated globally and then determines the journey of 'Girl' from earth into the solar system and the rest of the universe. The further 'Girl' gets from earth, the more stages are unlocked for players to use.
