Nintendo reacquaints us with some facts ahead of the European release...

The question as to whether Europeans will lap up Nintendoâ??s forthcoming dog-sim, Nintendogs, in the same manner as Japanese and US gamers was again highlighted today with the continued pump of facts relating to the games success overseas.

Lest we need reminding, Nintendogs is the brainchild of Shigeru Miyamoto; Nintendoâ??s version of the AIBO that has gone on to shift over 1.5 million copies worldwide, selling out in its first week of release in the USA with over 250,000 copies flying off the shelves during the opening weekend.

The title has become crucial to Nintendoâ??s future strategy, highlighting the Japanese giantâ??s desire to broaden the scope of videogames and becoming a vital system-shifting title that defines the DS. In their typical business acumen this is a fact identified early by Nintendo, aping the US strategy across Europe by dropping the price of the Nintendo DS when the title goes on sale (October 7th over here in case you hadnâ??t noticed).

Nintendogs makes heavy use of the DS unique qualities, with the stylus and touch-screen providing the sole means to take control and advanced speech-recognition to command your pup just like the real thing!

Building on top of the worldwide success and a perfect rating of 40/40 from Famitsu, Nintendo has put a large amount of marketing budget behind the game: taking puppies with Nintendogs branded jackets to the high streets up and down the country (hope theyâ??ve got their rival branded Pooper Scoopers with them); garnished the â??psychological benefitsâ? of playing the game from top relationship psychologist Susan Quilliam and the support of two of the dog worldâ??s best known brands â?“ the Dogâ??s Trust charity and Bakerâ??s Complete.

HMV in Londonâ??s Oxford Street will be opening early on October 7th (one last time just in case you missed it) to accommodate the â??massive demandâ? for the game, which will be available in three different versions each containing a different selection of breeds.
