Japanese figures suggest that the Nintendo's worldwide sales could hit 50 million this month...
Nintendo's Wii could reach 50 million sales worldwide in just over two years on the market, placing the console way ahead of the curve of PlayStation 2 sales in its first three years on the market.
According to Nikkei.net sales figures (via Kotaku), Nintendo's casual gaming juggernaut could pass through the 50 million worldwide sales barrier before the end of this month, which would be just over two years and four months after it was first released.
In contrast, the most successful console of all time in terms of sales (Sony's PS2) took just under three years to reach 50 million shipments, five and a half years to reach 100 million shipments, while more current sales figures stand at 140 million unit sales worldwide (as of last July).

Yeah, apparently Ninty are working on a new console with graphics to match PS3/60, and motion controllers/games are being created by PS3/60, so its all gonna be good in the end eh! :)

Just outputting to HD won't be enough - there will have to be increases to the Wii's GPU and memory to make the visuals look sufficiently better. the Wii HD is just a pipedream invented by an anlyst that doesn't actually get that many things right...
