Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime dismisses the possibility of future price cuts for the Wii...
Nintendo may have unleashed global price cuts for its Wii console only days ago but Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime is already being asked whether the price will come down even further in future, to which he's answered an unequivocal "absolutely not".
"We lasted 34 months without having to cut the price," explained Fils-Aime. "We were able to reach over 20 million consumers here in the US at $249. The next group of consumers we will get at this $199 price point, and we've already seen very strong results after just one week on the marketplace."
Reggie also stated that he doesn't think the Wii's production shortages from a couple of years ago will return this Christmas. "We're prepared. We have a tremendous amount of product in inventory; we've been flowing product in for retail; we do not expect to have shortages on our products."

Just outputting to HD won't be enough - there will have to be increases to the Wii's GPU and memory to make the visuals look sufficiently better. the Wii HD is just a pipedream invented by an anlyst that doesn't actually get that many things right...
