A Japanese report suggests that the d-pad and A/B buttons may be a thing of the past in Nintendo’s opinion...
When Nintendo first laid claims to their next home console causing a stir in the videogames industry, we certainly didnâ??t foresee them ditching features that they first introduced over 20 years ago and have become stable ingredients of game consoles.
However today the Japanese publication, the Diamond Weekly, has alleged that the forthcoming Nintendo Revolution will not feature a d-pad or A and B buttons â?“ aspects that have become as synonymous to Nintendo as a certain moustachioed plumber.
If the report is to be believed then it backs up former claims of introducing new ways to play games; a concept that has been highlighted by the recent release of the Nintendo DS and their negative stance towards increasingly complex videogames.
Itâ??s certainly fair to say that the increasing decline of 2D games has all but made the d-pad a thing of the past, resigned to menu-selections and other such trite operations; but the removal of A and B buttons certainly makes for an intriguing future according to Nintendo.
Weâ??ll have more information soon.
