Nintendo of America's Carrie Dunaway explains that the Vitality Sensor will be demoed at future events...

One of the most perplexing absences from Nintendo's E3 conference this year was the Vitality Sensor. Now, Nintendo's Executive Vice-President of Sales and Marketing, Carrie Dunaway has provided a semi-plausible explanation as to why:

"We're continuing to work on the Vitality Sensor," Dunaway told GameSetWatch. "As we thought about what we wanted to bring to E3, we realized we had a really packed agenda. We also thought about the atmosphere at E3 which is noisy and adrenaline-filled, and loud and stressful, and it just didn't seem like the best environment to introduce a product that's really about relaxing, so we decided we'd think about other venues that would be more appropriate."

It makes sense, but technically it only explains why the peripheral wasn't on the show floor. There could still have been a demo during the conference, although admittedly this was fairly packed with announcements and Iwata-san's 3DS bombshell.

Nintendo of America's President, Reggie Fils-Aime stated towards the end of last year that the Vitality Sensor and an accompanying game would be at E3 2010, so presumably a full reveal and hands on demos with the peripheral won't be too far off.

Surely, if that's the case, it would be the 'perfect' venue for the vitality Sensor.

I think it's more to do witht he fact that Nintendo correctly identified E3 as being largely about core games.  They didn't want the Vitality sensor to get the same reaction as Wii Music did when Miyamoto unveiled it.

Either that or Nintendo's scrapped it.

It doesn't matter how good the Wii console is, all the games are rubbish.

family bowling

Family fishing

Family execise

Family necrophilia

There is no point improving the console unless they sort the games out

Yeah, apparently Ninty are working on a new console with graphics to match PS3/60, and motion controllers/games are being created by PS3/60, so its all gonna be good in the end eh! :)

I really would like to see a Nintendo console with HD support.  It's the standard, they really do need to catch up.

What Bing popups - are you on about MS search engine?  If you're on about the textual ads, just avoid hovering your cursor above em - simple.

Information doesn't drop from the trees I'm afraid...

This site is so annoying with the stupid bing popups, they detract from me being able to read these articles...
