Nintendo Not Sure Why Core Games Don't Sell On Wii News

If you're a developer/publisher considering a core title on Wii or even just a core gamer who picked up a Wii in the hope of some classic gaming experiences, "I don't know", is probably not the response you'd want to hear from a Nintendo exec when grilled as to why titles such as MadWorld and The Conduit don't sell on the format.

Speaking to Wired, Denise Kaigler Nintendo of America's Vice President of Corporate Affairs claimed, "You know, I don't know. It's hard to say" when asked about the lack of commercial success faced by such titles.

Kaigler admitted to not being a 'core gamer' herself, so perhaps not exactly the best person to seek the answer to the ultimate question, but it does seem that nobody at Nintendo can offer the response that gamers and publishers are seeking.

"We're hopeful that the titles will catch on and that consumers who already have those games will spread the word and others will follow suit there," Kaigler later claimed.  "They're deep experiences, and they're very challenging titles, and we certainly like them."

Kaigler remained equally vague as to reasons why Wii sales are slowing down.  "There are a lot of factors when sales go either up or down. And it's hard to point to any one particular factor. I've read reports from analysts that point to any number of factors."

With such ambiguity at the top level you have to ask, has Nintendo been living on a wing and a prayer so far?
