Wii may be top of the hardware sales, but Nintendo makes a less than impressive debut on Greenpeace's Guide to Greener Electronics...
Global campaigning organisation Greenpeace has today released the latest version of its 'Guide to Greener Electronics', which has seen Microsoft and Nintendo join the list of manufacturers including Sony, Philips, and Dell.
Unfortunately for Messrs. Gates and Iwata, both Microsoft and Nintendo failed to make impressive debuts. Marked out of ten (where the higher the number, the greener the company on recycling and use of toxic materials), Microsoft managed to clamber up to a score of 2.7...whilst Nintendo achieved a record for the guide by attaining the first zero.
According to the guide, Microsoft's long timetable to reduce toxic chemicals by 2011, and poor voluntary take back policies helped deliver its low score, whilst Nintendo achieved 'Bad' scores across the board.
In a statement to the Associated Press, Microsoft representatives commented: "In our consumer electronics business, we comply with and exceed all environmental guidelines and regulations."
But what about Sony? It seems that in the fifteen months since Greenpeace started its 'Guide', the corporation has lifted its score from 5 to 7.3, thanks to a reduction of PVC in its manufacturing and improvements in recycling.
Greenpeace's next report is due in the New Year.

Yeah, apparently Ninty are working on a new console with graphics to match PS3/60, and motion controllers/games are being created by PS3/60, so its all gonna be good in the end eh! :)

Just outputting to HD won't be enough - there will have to be increases to the Wii's GPU and memory to make the visuals look sufficiently better. the Wii HD is just a pipedream invented by an anlyst that doesn't actually get that many things right...
