Nintendo Increases H1 Net Profit Forecast + Revolution After April News
No Revolution on the horizon as Nintendo increases first half net profit expectations...
By Chris LeytonPosted: 07/10/2005
Largely the result of a weak yen against the dollar, Nintendo today announced a significant increase to its net profit forecast for the first half but lowered its operating profit and sales due to slumping sales of the GameCube.
Originally predicting net profit of 19 billion yen Nintendo has raised this to 36 billion yen, whilst increasing current profit to 56 billion yen from 33 billion yen. As a result of a much weaker-then-expected yen in the foreign market, the Japanese giant expects to book special gains of 24 billion yen on foreign currency-dominated assets.
Assuming the dollar to be worth 107 yen and the euro 135 yen earlier in the year, at the end of September the dollar was worth 113.19 yen and the euro stood at 136.13 yen. Nintendo benefits from this because it re-evaluates its uncovered foreign currency-dominated assets based on the exchange rate at the end of the fiscal year. At the beginning of the fiscal year Nintendo had US dollar dominated assets worth $5.2 billion and euro-dominated assets valued at 400 million euros.
Conversely lower-than-expected sales of the GameCube and software forced Nintendo to decrease its first half operating profit forecast from 30 billion yen to 20 billion yen, whilst dropping revenue during the same period from 190 billion yen to 175 billion yen.
For the full year forecast ending March 31st 2006 Nintendo is lowering its operating profit forecast from 115 billion yen to 90 billion yen, whilst slashing its sales projections to 500 billion yen from 520 billion yen.
Revealingly the financial forecast running up to March 31st 2006 makes no mention of Revolution console sales, strongly suggesting that Nintendoâ??s next-gen console wonâ??t even arrive in Japan before April 2006.

If the friend code system is sucking for you then Friend Horde will help ease the blow, it allows you to store all of your codes making them available to everyone plus it has a automated messaging that kicks off after you've confirmed someones code - saves wondering who has registered you.

That's very nice .I have a Wii but look at the shelves of your local walmart man!I’ve had my wii for about a year and have never had any problems with the remote flying out of my hands. I think the first buyers of the wii must have been some serious hard core gamers.

All this stuff about hardcore/casual is simply an excuse for gamers lacking confidence to elevate themselves above anybody they possible can, it's pure BS. >_>
As for the problems in this current generation? My current prediction is that microsoft can easily run away with it if sony and nintendo don't sort themselves out. Nintendo in particular are in the most trouble, but to blame the Wii's currenty librarie on just publishers or gamers is stupid - truth is, NEITHER take the wii seriously as a console, hence not many good games are around, and not many people will actually buy them when they DO arrive.
Much as it pains me to say this, nintendo needs to change the very image of the wii in order to save it, and themselves. They need to focus on style over substance for a little while, until they can secure some good releases to get back the long term gamers, and not just the people who wanna play wii sports for half an hour here and there. >_>

lol how the hell did you come up with the idea that the wii and the ds arnt selling as well as the ps3 or the 360 fact is the will still out sells the 360,ps3 and ps2 every month by far the wii is the most popular console to date, it seams obvious that people dont care about hd graphics or tons of storage space (why are so many ps2's still being sold) the clear fact is that nintendo are the best at making a game console all ages can play and offering the best most used connection (so no need to go out and buy a new tv just to get the best out of it) further more you can get SD cards upto or above 8gb which is ample for game saves/downloaded games ect, also the only reasion why you only see bundles is that 1 it offers a money saving bonus where instead of buying it all seperatly would cost more in effect nintendo only loose a small amount of profit that they soon make up for with there games, 2 you the consumer get a better deal.
