More on this game27 Wii titles and 31 Virtual Console games but have Nintendo really only got three titles ready in time... [Update]
Nintendo's attempted return to the top with the looming launch of the Wii took another boost today, with confirmation that the launch line-up would consists of a mighty 27 Wii titles along with 31 Virtual Console games.
Launching across Europe on December 8th with Wii Sports, support from Nintendo themselves is surprisingly weak compared to everybody else with only three titles finished in time for launch, though this does include the hugely anticipated The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, along with Wii Play and Wii Sports. Strangely it seems that Excite Truck will make the Wii's launch in North America, though Europeans will have to wait a little longer before sampling this and other titles such as Atlus' Trauma Centre: Second Opinion (hopefully it doesn't take too long to bring this over).
The full launch line-up includes:
- Wii Sports Bundle (Including the Wii console and Wii Sports - Tennis, Golf, Boxing, Baseball and Bowling)
- The Legend of Zelda : Twilight Princess
- Wii Play (including Wii Remote)
- Call of Duty 3
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
- Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam
- Madden NFL 07
- Need For Speed Carbon
- Happy Feet
- Rampage: Total Destruction
- Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz
- Gottlieb Pinball Classics
- Super Fruit Fall
- Disney/ Pixar Cars
- Barnyard
- Spongebob Squarepants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
- Blazing AngelsTM Squadrons of WW II
- Far Cry Vengeance
- GT Pro Series
- Monster 4x4 World Circuit
- Open Season
- Rayman Raving Rabbids
- Red Steel
- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent
- Impossible Mission (Dec 2006)
- Leaderboard Golf (Dec 2006)
- Tennis Masters (Dec 2006)
In addition, the 31 Virtual Console titles available covers a spectrum of formats including the NES, SNES, Nintendo64, MegaDrive and Turbografx (PC Engine), with classics such as:
NES
- Baseball
- Donkey Kong
- Donkey Kong Jr.
- Ice Hockey
- Mario Bros.
- Pinball
- Soccer
- Solomon's Key (Tecmo)
- Tennis
- The Legend of Zelda
- Urban Champion
- Wario's Woods
SNES
- Donkey Kong Country
- F-Zero
- SimCity
Nintendo64
- Super Mario 64
SEGA MegaDrive
- Sonic the Hedgehog
- Altered Beast
- Golden Axe
- Columns
- Gunstar Heroes
- Ecco the Dolphin
- Space Harrier II
- Toe Jam & Earl
- Ristar
- Dr. Robotonik's Mean Bean Machine
Turbografx (PC Engine)
- Bonk's Adventure
- Super Star Soldier
- Victory Run
- Bomberman'93
- Dungeon Explorer
Intriguingly Nintendo's announcement refers to prices for Virtual Console games "available in 2006", suggesting that these could be adjusted for future releases. As it stands, however, NES titles will be available for 500 Wii Points (£3.35); Turbografx (PC Engine) 600 Wii Points (£4.02); SNES and MegaDrive 800 Wii Points (£5.36); and Nintendo64 titles for 1000 Wii Points (£6.70).
Cards of various Wii Points denominations will be available to buy in shops, and are expected to cost approximately 20 euros (£13.36) for 2000 Wii Points. First-party titles for Wii games will retail for between 49 euros and 59 euros (£34 to £39), with additional Wii Remotes costing 39 euros (£29); Nunchuks 19 euros (£14) and the Classic Controller for 19 euros (£14).
Update: Japanese gamers will be getting a greater choice of Virtual Console titles compared to us Europeans, with the likes of Super Mario Bros., Castlevania IV, Super Mario World, Street Fighter II, and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, available in the territory from day one. Around fourteen additional Virtual Console titles will be available in Japan compared to Europe, leaving us with one question: why Konami, why Capcom, and why Nintendo??? Surely it's not just a question of localisation...

lol how the hell did you come up with the idea that the wii and the ds arnt selling as well as the ps3 or the 360 fact is the will still out sells the 360,ps3 and ps2 every month by far the wii is the most popular console to date, it seams obvious that people dont care about hd graphics or tons of storage space (why are so many ps2's still being sold) the clear fact is that nintendo are the best at making a game console all ages can play and offering the best most used connection (so no need to go out and buy a new tv just to get the best out of it) further more you can get SD cards upto or above 8gb which is ample for game saves/downloaded games ect, also the only reasion why you only see bundles is that 1 it offers a money saving bonus where instead of buying it all seperatly would cost more in effect nintendo only loose a small amount of profit that they soon make up for with there games, 2 you the consumer get a better deal.

It is weird that wiis are still pretty hard to find. And it sucks that they are only sold in bundles, i sure it is just a ploy to get money...but anyway
Since they only come it bundles, it was hard for me to choos which one to get. Plus, i had no idea what exactly was in them, or where I could find them.
However, shopwiibundles dot com has information on the different bundles, and has the ones that are being sold on ebay right now. I am not a big e-bay shopper, but they do always have wiis

Yea i have a Wii but look at the shelves of your local walmart man!
If Nintendo doesn't do anything they are gonna sell Bundles and accesiries till they crumble completely, all they are now is accessories, every game has them, not to mention most games are the same in comparison, take care of you pets, baby ect. or Mini game things / carnival. a few exceptions, but those exception would have made it on the gamecube graphics and all, so the Wii is neat but choking nintendo, and if they don't invest in something like this soon, meaning either have lots of room for download content (because i'm already using an SD card for content that wont fir on my Wii, i have to move Virtual games to make room for new game save files! but like i was saying, if they don't get it, I'm sure Microsoft will, and [#@!?], if microsoft can fit more stuff than a PS3, that system will die, and nindo wouldn't even know what happened because theyed be too busy counting how many people they must let go in order to pay their lease

to the haters! i love the wii, there is such a great range of games available, and more often than not at a nice price!!
the educated wii owner will enjoy his wii for years (most of the best games are fairly unpopular and often not even advertised), kids won't because they're kids, and anyway nothing wrong with putting the controllers down for a while!
and oh yes, f-zero and starfox has to happen !!!

lol most of us are over the novelty value of the wii now all the games are so alike its getting boring besides people want hidef the wii cant do hidef so basicly that why you cant compare the wii to the 360 or the ps3.
secondly from that there are games the mature audiance can play on the 360/ps3 like buzz/seen it among other kids games the only thing the wii has is wii fit but hasnt anyone heard of going out for a walk or even using a push bike or even jogging lol wii fit is for lazzy people who after buying wii fit will use it like there rusty exercise bike in there loft/garage with half a ton or dust and cob webs all over it

to 133.21, its simple how the wii can challenge other consoles games like the 360, they have games for the WHOLE family, like wii sports and wii play, i mean can u imagin ur grandmotrher on halo3? or metal gear solid?? no obvioulsy not, they'll probs have a heart attack tryin to figure out how to shoot and drive a vehicle( sorry if any old ppl read tht didnt meant it :P) soo mr xbox fanboy that is how the wii can match 360 games and ps3 games :)
