Nintendo's president left unimpressed by Apple iPad and doesn't think 3D offers the future either...

In the past Nintendo's Satoru Iwata has expressed both praise and criticism towards Apple, however recent comments seem to suggest he won't be adding an iPad to his collection of Apple products.

''It was a bigger iPod Touch,'' Iwata claimed in a report on The New York Times.  ''There were no surprises for me,'' he later added.

Nintendo and Apple have shared a mutal appreciation of each other in the past, although back in 2009 Iwata expressed concerns that the two companies were being pitched as competitors.

"Quite recently, media have been reporting that iPhone is a rival to Nintendo DS, but I do not strongly agree mainly because of the difference in the customers," he claimed in an investors Q&A.

"My impression as the person who has used iPhone is, it is very attractive but, frankly, I did not feel that it was designed to be appreciated by a wide variety of people like how Nintendo has been designing its products."

In the same New York Times article Iwata questioned the move to 3D, largely being championed by Sony as the future of entertainment.

''I have doubts whether people will be wearing glasses to play games at home. How is that going to look to other people?'' he told reporters at a Tokyo hotel, seemingly unmoved by the thought of waggling Wii Remotes.

Finally he continued to pour cold water over recent suggestions that a DS successor would feature motion sensitive technology and that a Wii HD was in the works.

''I question whether those features would be enough to get people to buy new machines,'' he claimed when asked about such developments.

Surely, if that's the case, it would be the 'perfect' venue for the vitality Sensor.

I think it's more to do witht he fact that Nintendo correctly identified E3 as being largely about core games.  They didn't want the Vitality sensor to get the same reaction as Wii Music did when Miyamoto unveiled it.

Either that or Nintendo's scrapped it.

It doesn't matter how good the Wii console is, all the games are rubbish.

family bowling

Family fishing

Family execise

Family necrophilia

There is no point improving the console unless they sort the games out

Yeah, apparently Ninty are working on a new console with graphics to match PS3/60, and motion controllers/games are being created by PS3/60, so its all gonna be good in the end eh! :)

I really would like to see a Nintendo console with HD support.  It's the standard, they really do need to catch up.

Information doesn't drop from the trees I'm afraid...
