Activision Targets Wii, Wants Console Price Cuts News

Consoles yet to reach mass-market price point as Activision-Blizzard commits support for Wii...

Speaking to Reuters, Activision Blizzard's Bobby Kotick has called on the hardware manufacturers to cut prices to reach a mass-market adoption point, but acknowledged that it's unlikely to happen anytime soon.

"The price on platforms today has still not gotten down to mass-market price points and I think when you're in the economic circumstances that the world has found itself in, there really is a difference between a $199 game system and a $299 game system."

Kotick also pledged renewed support for Wii, admitting that Activision-Blizzard has treated the popular format poorly in the past and will now consider a more original approach.

"In the past we approached the Wii as an extension of what we were doing on PlayStation and the Xbox and I think we can do a better job of creating original content for the Wii, and I think you'll see more of that this year."

Confirmation also came that Activision-Blizzard will be releasing Bizarre's untitled racer this year, alongside the new IPs Singularity and Prototype.
