Nintendo reveals that the handheld has smashed through the weeklay hardware sales record across the Atlantic too...
Nintendo of America has today confirmed that the weekly sales figures for the Nintendo DS has smashed through the previous record set by its predecessor, the GameBoy Advance in 2005.
Marking the start of the US Holiday season the week, which ran from Sunday 18th November to Saturday 24th November, saw 653,000 units of the Nintendo DS sell across the pond. Its home console sibling also performed well during that week with over 350,000 units of Wii sold.
"As shoppers look for ways to maximize their limited holiday spending money, they turn to gifts that can be used by the entire family," says George Harrison, Nintendo of America's senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. "Wii and Nintendo DS offer something for every member of the family. They're the most fun video game experiences at the most affordable price."
The news comes just a day after Nintendo UK confirmed sales of the DS broke the weekly record here in Blighty.
