Upcoming Japanese star-gazing application for DS unveiled, as Nintendo patents a Direction Sensor Card...
It's a portable gaming platform, a foreign language aid, and a virtual guitar, but the Nintendo DS will be adding a new string to its bow in Japan soon, with the launch of Hoshizora Navi – that's Starry Sky Navigator.
Developed by Japanese astronomy software producer, AstroArts, Hoshizora Navi allows DS users to track the intergalactic positions of over 9,000 astral bodies, including the Moon and the planets of the Solar System. In fact, their positions from the years between 1900 to 2099 can be charted – just in case you ever wanted to know where Uranus was the day you were born.
Costing a little over 8,000 Yen (around £65) the application will apparently – according to US gaming blog Joystiq - utilise the 'DS Direction Sensor Card', which was recently patented by Nintendo, to detect the direction the user is facing and show the relevant charts.
