Nintendo of America claims that Satoru Iwata's recent comments on a next-gen Nintendo handheld were "misrepresented"...
Nintendo of America has claimed that Satoru Iwata was misrepresented in a recent interview with Japanese paper Asahi Shimbun, where he allegedly spoke about a next-gen handheld to follow Nintendo's DS that will feature motion sensing controls and highly detailed graphics.
"Mr. Iwata did not make any comments regarding the functions of Nintendo's future hardware systems. The answer to the reporter's question was misinterpreted," said Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America's Senior Director of Corporate Communications.
This does seem to make sense, as Iwata-san's supposed comments to the Asahi Shimbun did seem a little out of character when they surfaced last week. It's certainly unlike Nintendo to talk openly about its unannounced hardware pipeline, let alone detail its plans for such products.

Update: Since this article went to press, the Asahi Shimbun has refuted Nintendo's claims of misrepresentation. "The article quoted Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's comment accurately," the paper stated according to Kotaku.
