Nintendo confirms that the dual-screened handheld is the biggest selling console in 2006...
There may be just over one week to go before Wii launches in the UK, but Nintendo has already scored the number console spot for 2006 - Nintendo DS has become the biggest selling console in the country during the course of the year.
Confirmation of the handheld's dominance comes from independent UK sales tracker, Chart Track, which also announced that two million Nintendo DS' have been sold since it launch in the country back in March 2005.
David Yarnton, General Manager, Nintendo UK added: "The ability of Nintendo DS to appeal to both gamers and non-gamers alike through an exciting, fun and innovative portfolio of software has been instrumental in its success in the UK, with many more Touch! Generations games launching this year and into 2007, Nintendo DS will continue to be the main driving force behind the expansion of the video game market this year."
