The latest, elderly friendly, Nintendo DS gets a European release date and a name change...
Nintendo today announced a European release date along with a name change for the latest iteration of the Nintendo DS.
The more appropriately titled DSi XL will launch across the region on March 5th in Wine Red and Dark Brown designs. Pre-loaded software on the handheld includes Dr Kawashima’s: Little Bit of Brain Training: Arts Edition and Dictionary 6 in 1 with Camera Function, as well as the Nintendo DSi Browser.
Bucking the miniaturisation trend, the Nintendo DSi XL features two 4.2" screens that are 93% larger than the DS Lite and a bigger stylus. The concept being that the Nintendo DSi XL can be played by a group of people instead of just one, although it probably helps the elderly market tuned into the likes of Brain Training.
Nintendo has yet to release details surrounding the pricing of the DSi XL, although the handheld was released at a higher cost compared to the DSi in Japan.
