A new DS set to launch across Japan later in the year with bigger screens...
Following increased speculation that Nintendo is on the verge of announcing a new Nintendo DS, the Nikkei Shimbun is reporting that the fourth iteration of the popular handheld will feature larger screens.
The article fails to reveal any further specifications, although reports from GI.biz indicate that the screens will now measure 4 inches compared to 3.5 inches on the current DSi and is designed to compete with the iTouch/iPhone instead of the PSP.
The Japanese launch of the latest model is expected to arrive virtually a year after the DSi launched on November 1st. Evidently such a quick turnaround is a response to the slowing demand for the Nintendo DS in Japan and suggestive that this will follow a similar strategy with slight hardware tweaks as opposes to major innovations.
