Japanese publication joins a list of others to reveal the long-awaited Wii update to the Saturn classic...

After Xbox 360 Elite, a sequel to NiGHTS for Wii has to be one of the worst kept secrets of recent times. Rumours that a follow-up to the 1996 title is in development has been a long-standing one for quite some time, with teasing hints via online polls and promises of "exclusive unveilings", helping to perpetuate and build anticipation - despite a lack of confirmation from SEGA.

However, Japanese publication Famitsu has joined a small band of other publications to lift the lid of the new NiGHTS, entitled Journey of Dreams, which will be heading to Wii by the end of the year. Produced by Sonic Team under the watchful eyes of Takashi Izuka, who worked on the original SEGA Saturn title, NiGHTS: Journey of Dreams is set to launch the character onto Wii with a full range of Wii-remote gestures, as players battle against a nightmarish demon.

According to several sources, SEGA will be publicly announcing the game early this month, so expect further news on the title very shortly.

Nonskippable cutscenes are an abomination and I absolutely hate this game because of them. It's bad enough that the very first boss battle is for some reason beyond my capabilities to beat, but EVER TIME I LOSE I HAVE TO SIT THROUGH THE SAME STUPID LITTLE SKIT AGAIN! I regret my purchase. Will not buy another "Sonic Team" game again.
