Need for Speed ProStreet revealed for next-gen, PS2, and the handhelds; battle scars and a new online system promised...

Electronic Arts has finally unveiled the next instalment in the long-running Need for Speed franchise as 'Need for Speed ProStreet', which will arrive on Xbox 360, PlayStation3, Wii, PlayStation2, PSP, DS, and PC in November.

Currently in development at EA's Black Box studio in Vancouver, ProStreet's gameplay is based around head-to-head encounters, and will expand the AutoSculpt functionality into affecting the performance of vehicles for the first time. EA are also boasting that the title, the eleventh in the series so far, will include 'photo-realistic' visuals, with suggestions that cosmetic damage to paint work and panelling will be persistent, acting as 'battle scars'. A revamped online system is also being built into the game, which the company describes will "redefine the meaning of competitive social play."

"Need for Speed ProStreet accelerates street racing culture by providing the ultimate stage for the pursuit of street racing supremacy," said Executive Producer, Larry LaPierre. "This is a game about building the ultimate performance-tuned battle machine, taking it to multi-disciplinary showdowns all over the world and pitting your skills and reputation against the very best street racers."

Ok pro street hasn't free roam, but!!!! it is more realistic playing it than Carbon. You can destroy your car if you are crap, where Carbon just bounces off everything. It's a real challenge to win properly without the auto fix.
